Are you kidding? Cops pull out their revolver all the time if they feel the situation might get tense or they are over matched. In LA they are far fewer police officers than most other major cities so they can justify unholstering their weapons at any time. The LAPD minus a few bad apples are still an elite police force and the ol saying with them goes if you want to die then pull your gun on them since they don't hesitate to shot
