Great idea to cut transportation costs...but this here is Long Beach: installing a CNG compressor in the garage would eliminate a bedroom.

A guy I work with has one of these, and uses it to commute from Oceanside to Long Beach every day. The main problem is that there are so few nat gas stations, that if you need a fill up you have to go way out of your way.

Too bad LB voted against the LNG terminal...

Leave it to Honda to build fuel efficient and reliable cars. Our civic hybrid has been flawless and necessary considering our historically high gas prices. LNG might work here due to short distances but regular household gas prices for cooking are ridiculously high.

There are two Honda Civic GX NGV cars in my Long Beach family. We typically use fueling stations in the LB/Seal Beach area but there are a number of others in Southern California. Fueling time takes about 3-4 minutes and cost is about $0.50 less than gasoline on a gallon equivalent basis. I'm considering the installation of a "Phill" home refueling appliance like Mr. Wright. Not only would it be convenient and reduce the fuel cost for the vehicles, the Calif. Public Utilities Commission requires natural gas utilities to provide fuel to homes that have a Phill installation at the base rate for all of the natural gas used at the home, including that used for space and water heating, cooking, clothes drying, etc. A good deal for households that use a lot of natural gas.
