No word if this guy has insurance or not. All drivers need to have Uninsured Motorist coverage on their policies. It covers you and household members as pedestrians. With the crazy drivers out there, you need all the financial protection you can get.
Four years for this? Poor girl is sentenced for life. What a system.

Did this guy have a license... first of all you do not pass up a bus when it is stopped...due to the fact that people could be exiting and entering. This POS deserves 40 to life. Sounds like he may be a sociopath. He is a clear and imminent danger to society. He will obviously commit further crimes if he gets out within 4 years.
This poor child will spend probably most if not all her life with the results of his felony.

I live on Ronan and heard the sound from the accident, you could tell it was car versus pedestrian. It was a sickening sight to see these young girls in the street.
I often hear the screech of breaks at the cross walk as the children are crossing, and even rear end accidents all too frequintly.
I have also watched the police spend an afternoon with a decoy walking back and forth in the cross walk and giving tickets to those who fly through the cross walk with out stopping. Yet the speeding and not stpping for the children continues.
We all need to be more aware of the kids walking back and forth to school, and for all pedestrians.
As far as the driver being illegal...he was! HE BROKE THE LAW, that's illigal. Then he ran, THAT'S ILLEGAL.
I wish both Kelsey and Elizabeth the very best possible.

Kelsey is my sons' friend. It's very sad to know that this guy may only get up to 4 years in prison. My son told me that Kelsey pushed others out of harms way because she saw the car coming and she's the one who got hurt the most... She will never be the same nor will her family. We all just have to pray that God will judge him and punish him for hurting his children. He's stupid for driving that fast near that intersection... Hello Wilmington resident, schools out!!! So he's driving on a crowded street (PCH), not too far from the Middle School that he probably attend, and somehow didn't see a crowd of 20 kids crossing the street??? And if I do recall, the bus stop is at PCH & Wilmington Blvd on the South Side of PCH and the bus stops in the right hand lane for passengers.... He obviously is blind. Of course his mother is going to say he didn't do nothing wrong... She doesn't know the laws!! He should be charged with 1 count of wreckless driving, 1 count of intent to flea an accident, 2 counts of great bodily injuring with a deadly weapon (car), 2 counts of violating the speed limit in a school zone. There's no excuse for what he did to these kids. I hope this case goes to trial and he gets what he deserves... No Mercy!! No deals, no plea bargains, no nothing!!!

With what he has done and how he handled it by taking off with no regards for the girls and leaving them to die in the street like animals I strongly believe that he should be charged among all other charges that he be charged with attempted vehicle murder since he left the scene nothing can be worse than watching your child lay there in the state Kelsey is in and being her parent and nothing you can do to change it for her and to know that the ANIMAL responsible for all this is probably going to get 6 months and possible probation. I am so sorry for what happened to these girls their parents,and at the same time I am so angry that this punk is going to get off so darn easy just so his immature sorry self will be back on the street and repeating history. I was also hit at that intersection while attending the same middle school and that man that hit me also fled the scene but they got him and all he got was a $ 25.00 fine and a year probation and he wasn't from here and he was trying to use the laws from mexico saying that the cars there have the right away not the people walking, that was 31 years ago and look nothing has changed.

I agree with you Silicon Doc, I believe a life if is a life and I would have the same feelings about this punk if the people that was hit were 15,25,30 - 60+ It is just a sick situation. My niece was 5 yrs old and it was Sept 2 days before starting kindergarten she was playing in her front yard when this jerk driving under the influence of PCP and alcohol lost control and grove his car into her front yard killing her and seriously hurting this 8 year boy who was in the front yard playing with her and when it was all over ( the trial ) all he got was a 1 year jail time but he was able to go to work and spent the nights and weekend in jail I think they called it ( work fer lo ) and a $ 10,000.00 dollar fine and that was it for him and the jerk thought that his sentence was unfair because he wasn't himself when it happened. I don't care if you are in your right mind or under the influence you took the initiative to get behind the wheel and you chose to put whatever in your system no one else did or you chose to speed and disregard the law regardless what you chose you are responsible for what damage you caused. This kid needs to learn the hard way and get the max for his part in all this,and let others know when you decide to drive you need to drive with caution and with respect to the laws for the public safety no matter the age of the pedestrian or people in other vehicles. I am glad I am not on his jury because him, his family or friends would not like me at all.
