parents shouldn't refuse their daughters to fall in love with a guy! no matter what their age gaps are! The important thing here is that they are happy with each other's company.

Life Sentences=0 chance of recidivism for violent sexual predators. An alternative is not acceptable. It is not worth the risk for and friend family or stranger to be assualted when it could be avoided.I think the US public is sick of these offenders but don't know what to do to help change legislation. Our society tolerates liberal thinkers to make laws in regard to offenders who choose to stalk, rape and murder children..

There are age differences in almost all relationships, and they're usually just a few years. But 40 & 16. Maybe that was acceptable 200 years ago, but not now. This guy is a sick SOB.

Now I'm sure I'll come in for some abuse here, but what is the problem here. Is it the age difference? And if so, what is an acceptable age range to you posters? Or is this a teacher student issue to you? Other relationships it would be okay? Or that would be unacceptable too? Or is it a male female thing to you? Would your opinion be the same if the older were female and the younger male? I guess you just don't like her choice of spouse. Being in my upper 50's I'd have a hard time enduring a full day with any 16 year old girl let alone the rest of my life but to each his own. And to these two too.

Technically, individuals were getting married around that age for hundreds of years. It was politics that put an end to it. In my opinion, both parties were willing and should be able to do so. Now, if it was a thirteen year old or younger girl, then we have some issues.

A 16 year old has no idea what marriage is all about. She is going to miss out on her teenage years and look back with remorse. What about college?
The parent had no choice? Sure they did...say no. If the daughter continues to stalk the 40 year old man, he needs to get a restraining order.
All in all, it is the TEACHER'S responsibility to remain responsible and professional. Starry eyed kids have little control over their emotions. She wouldn't be in love with the guy if he didn't allow it. He is a pedophile. They don't have evidence? I think they do, the man is quitting his job and they openly admit to having a relationship. This is why the south has stereotypes. I hope he won't be allowed to teach again.

I think most could say at age sixteen we didn't have a clue about what we wanted in our lives- we were barely thinking about our futures-more abour what we could do with our day; living in the moment... It is unfair that a teacher especially- who knows how minors think would take advantage of this young girls last couple of years that she should be able to still be a child and not have to worry about adult things, such as marraige. If truely, there is a connection that they felt could have taken them through their lifetime than why not wait untill the girl is eighteen and has graduated from high school to pursue marraige? Yes, is is politically correct that a "child" is and "adult" at age eighteen- this is a great law because it protects our children for a specific amount of time- let's not go back and rething the "mistakes" people made years ago when men were impregnanting fourteen year old girls- this is "progress" and I am sure most of you would agree when I say an eighteen year old isn't even ready for the trials of marraige. If I were the parent- I would be pressing charges and having the marriage annulled-period. Next I would be taking things up with the school where this teacher is employed and yes- I would make a huge stink of it even if it were not a "teacher"-we have laws now to protect our children; that said-I guess some parents just don't care if their child ruins their life because rest assured this marraige wiil end in divorice- or this teacher will continue to play house with other minors behind this girls back. A pervert-is a pervert-even if they marry.

Oftentimes, I find that I am the ONLY person on a thread speaking against the criminal. And then, I am criticized for being so mean about the pedophile/killer/drug dealer/robber. Where are all of the good people???????? And why aren't they speaking up?

The age difference wouldn't be so much of an issue if the girl was 26 & the man 50 but she is only 16 & still a child. I wouldn't let my daughters be with anyone even remotely close to my own age. Just not right. Not right at all!
