Skaters aren't the only ones going to use this park. The entire idea was started 9 years ago by a bunch of us BMXer's. Thank you.

Us as in who..?

Us as in me and you. BMXer's deserve most of the credit towards bringing this together. I was there in the front row of everything that happened for a good while, so when the skateboarders get in my way, im gonna have to let him know whos efforts brought shit together.

It is about time for it to be built.
'not you again' has no clue; "we skateboarders are here to stay buddy" -> A skatepark is Less dangerous than a trampoline, statistically...

Bikers always say they were there at the meetings, I wasn't there so I don't really know in this case...
Also they say bikes don't effect or damage the park although the fact is they do damage concrete -> pegs specifically.
A bigger factor is they make the 'danger level raise dramatically'.
BikeParks should be separate from SkateParks but it won't stop me or any from skating.

If the person riding (whatever bike, board, blade) knows how to respect others by following the simple etiquette of riding responsibly which consist of looking ahead of were you're going and simply respecting others' runs.

Can't wait it's gonna be a good designed (by skaters who are not Wally Holliday -no disrespect) skatepark!

a. the whole thing about pegs damaging stuff is true.. BUT skate trucks are made out of the exact same material.. METAL. when metal meets concrete it tends to wear the concrete down. skateparks aren't supposed to be built and last forever, it's something to detour skaters and bmx riders from damaging real street obstacles. Like people private property. and it's meant to keep kids outta the streets and places where they'll sue for if they get hurt. keep in mind a skatepark WILL NEVER stop street riding n skating. It's a simple fact. Heck i ride street everytime i go to a city that has a skatepark. BUT it helps keep younger kids there and outta harms way. And to the person talking about insurance, I've gotten hurt worse just walking down the street than i have in 9yrs of bmx and everyone i know is the same way. Your statistically more likely to get hurt in a car accident or get food poisoning than you are to get seriously injured at a skatepark. And to the guy talkin bout bikers never being at meetings, your the one saying yourself you never go and you think you have a right to even talk, I've went to prob 30 meetings in my own town just trying to get a skatepark, and i know those guys have been working on it for years now. so pull your head out your ass before you say dumb things.. and back to the pegs thing, this isn't 1997 anymore, bmx is all about smoothness now and people don't do airs to peg bonks and lean way to far on grinds these days. and yes pegs scratch up the flat bottom alil if a bike gets dropped but boohoo, its an accident, things happen. we live on earth. its not perfect and things wear n get damaged.. its a fact of life. i don't even ride pegs so i don't care but its the oldest skater cry baby remark when it comes to bikes. Did you build the park? Did you pay more than any other taxpayer? Is a skatepark some sort of club you can join? NO, so why do you think it's your property.. because you own a skateboard? hell i own a skateboard.. does that meen i can come and bring my board and act like it's my own personal park..? "Hey quit scratchin up my coping! Get outta my way, this is my skatepark!" yeh nice additude broseph. And saying they need to make a bike park is like saying they need 10 different swimming pools for all the different types of swimming.. OR an individual track field for every different track event. It's just dumb, bikers and skaters all ride the same stuff when it comes to park and street no matter how much you think otherwise. If you built a park designed with all the small skate obstacles, street riders would want to come ride it. If you built a bike park with nice smooth bowls n trannies all the gnardog skaters would wanna come hit it.. whats the point? i have about 10 friends that skate and they all think that typa stuff and saying the danger level increases with bikes is stupid. look in the mirror when you say the danger level increases. you think we like running into people. NO! it's kids that can barely push a board and have no control what so ever that is the danger at a park. the 5yr old wobbling down a bank and straight into 10 ppl's lines. thats the danger. the hotshots that think everyone in the park owes em somethin cause they can treflip every 10 tries. almost every rider i know has to sit and time out there runs to avoid the cluster fuck that is skating. while your average skater just rolls full speed with out looking at what anyone around him is doing or has been going for the last half hour. its not hard to watch someone like 3 times and realize where most of there lines will be and get out of the way and don't go when its their turn. that's what park etiquette is genius. and I'll leave ya with this.. How many skaters does it take to screw in a lightbulb..?......One.. But it takes him 20 tries..

Nice Insults on skateboarders, real sweet way of showing who the 'jock' is.
You 'a bike rider' even admitted pegs are damaging on stuff...

About bikers and meetings, that was a response towards 'DatsunKing's comment about having to tell skaters that get in his way that bikers got the park there. That's like your insulting joke.

It comes down to what the city puts down as the law, allowing or not allowing bikes.
Look up Chandler, Arizona 'Bike park'- no skateboards allowed. It makes sense to keep them separate.

The thing about trucks and pegs being both made of metal (your point)?
It's a matter related to the force of impact, not the material.
Non-galvanized Steel coping is best in my opinion. Unfortunately the coping will be 'galvanized steel' and that is for a reason --> bike peg impact.
Concrete parks can last a long long time when they don't have large chunks above and below the coping.?Greencastle -->Bikes? And those scrapes from pegs you mention, for a skateboard wheel are not friendly.

I'd rather be a biker struck by a skateboarder than be a skateboarder struck by a biker; just like you,'broseph'. But I ain't scared...
I'll agree the young kids of any type (board, bike, blades) who have no idea what they're doing and especially the packs of them are a bigger danger than any - except a damaged or misbuilt kinky park.
I can respect and ride with bikes so you know, Louisville works; but I prefer not to (I assume most would agree to stick with only their own).

Did not attend meetings in Terre Haute because I don't live there but I do live in Indiana and will be riding that park soon!

I thought skateparks were a 'recreational facility' for young and old to go, exercise and enjoy. A free public park.
Who ever said anything about keeping skaters off the streets, was that the reasoning behind this park?

A toast to you 'broseph'

We alone didn't get it here. But we were the ones that was standing in front of businesses asking for change to get the funding started and show this town that we're serious. But as I stated above. We tried over 9 years ago. Most got sick and tired of being harrassed and bully by the law enforcement here that they quit. While others like us took our money else where.

Pegs over time will wear a groove into the concrete, but Indy's concrete park took care of that and everyone is happy.

And thanks to the idiots that have been riding or skating the park when it isn't complete. Way to show maturity! Keep it up and you can quarantee that the other phases won't happen.

As for people colliding. Show some respect. And don't snake others runs and sit in one spot skating back and forth. Because I can guarantee if you get in my way I will take you down. Plain and simple.

not you again, please go somewhere else with your BS. We're all (Bikers and skaters) tired of hearing people like you and your BS. WE KNOW THE RISKS!!!!

Biker and skaters can easily use the park at the same time. Just watch others and don't be a dick.
