I wanted to give this man the benefit of the doubt. What a sick, sick man. Oscar, they let you off too easy. You should be serving more time than that. How sad for his wife and family to live with this shame. At least the victim will be able to go on knowing some measure of justice has been dealt. Very sad for so many people.

I remember Medrano slightly from HS, and he was creepy back then. He didn't just abuse the trust of a the little girl, although that is a horrendous and completely unforgivable act. He also abused the trust of the citizens of Gardena, who, I'm sure, did NOT intend to elect a criminal deviant as a civic leader. I hope he roasts in Hell for his betrayal of so many people, as should ALL politicians who betray the public trust.

this is all very sad and to think that Gardena's police chief, Ed Medrano and other Police Officers recently closed down a treatment living for sex offenders in the Gardena area, this could have been a good place for Oscar to re-enter society.

for all of you who think you know what a sex offender looks or live like! Think not!
communicate with your children keep an open line of communication, let them know that when there is a problem teachers are a good source of resource. In the past I read that this young lady had asked for help from other family members, But because family is well connected and in good Governmental positions it got swept under the rug! Thank God for the courage of the girl who helped her and for the investigation from the Sheriff Dept. Who knows what would have happened to her if the Gardena Police would have known.
I think Oscar and all the Medrano family (adults) who knew about this should pay!

Please! this little girl had to be depressed, don't tell me that at 9 years old after this PIG started touching her sexually she was the same!(B****S****) there had to be signs of the sexual abuse. The secret is no one cared! What was really going on in that house? was there an investigation for child neglect? or endangerment? If he is such a good friend of your wife and children, maybe he should do his time at your house and you carrie the cost!

I can't believe it. I've been in Gardena over 40 years. Medrano was a pillar in the community. But what is done behind closed doors often comes to light. No one could have known or would have known that he did this. But now he's brought from glory to shame. It just goes to show that one error in judgement can cost a whole lifetime of service.
