Where is McDermott's picture? Interesting that the DB publishes the 'terrorist' and the 'carjacking suspect' but not the drug dealer.

But I'd bet on lazy & sloppy, not conspiracy here.(If you knew what the "journalists" got paid, you'd understand.) |

This situation reminds me of 'Weeds'.

Proving, if you have enough money, and are within the "inner circle" of "public servants" there is another set of rules for you in this supposingly democratic republic we reside in.
And people critisize CA for "not saying the Pledge of Allegiance" in classrooms. Well, I like to tell them, CA was the first to recognize that "liberty and justice for all" is just BS. Waste of time and money teaching kids BS. When are the other states going to get it? I guess when prospective Miss USA's state, "world democracy and peace as dictated by the United States with their enormous stash of the best WMD's money can buy!" |

He isn't in Twin Towers, he's in Castaic |

His picture was in two other articles back in January when he got arrested. He is blonde, looks nothing like you would think a dealer did... which is why the article said he lived a double life. He always was dressed up in suits & ties. He drove a nice businessman's car and didn't even act like a punk. He was polite and nice. He was a financial advisor for Morgan Stanley. He had a Mother who died recently who was a drug addict. Very sad situation. I wonder if the informant was a jealous ex-boyfriend, hmmmmm |

To Worrywart: The guy was arrested, held on $365,000 bail, and held to answer at the preliminary trial; what more do you want? Maybe if the HBPD wasn't stuck doing occupancy related bar checks and "Surge" related enforcement, maybe they would be free to catch more guys like this. Anyways, sounds like a good arrest. |

Are you saying he had an ex-boyfriend ? |

Yes, it does sound like a good arrest. When are we going to demand regular drug testing for government positions, not just to avoid public embarrassments like this and Gardena's recent councilman (who admitted over a year before that he was "taking 5 vicodans a day to get out of bed".) Why aren't all the administrators/advisors/superv isors over any public funds, required to drug test regularly to ensure they are and remain addiction free? In these days of national "heightened security" it seems a no brainer preventative safety measure. And are financials being offered? I recall a prominent official's family making quite a bundle off a local park renovation. There has also been a dramatic increase in gambling addiction in the U.S. in recent years, the public needs to be able to weed out candidates with possible distractions like these in our current and prospective public servants. |

For the record,
I am Michael McDermott, John Michael McDermott, from Manhattan Beach that went to Mira Costa High School and graduated in 1985. I am not this Michael McDermott who is on trial and I want people who know me and are getting this guy confused with me that I am not in trouble and lead a far different lifestyle. What's in a name? I sucks to be you, dude. But it could be worse, your name could be "George Bush". |

The reason there's no photo is that "journalists" are basically lazy. They'd have to work. The cops have "booking photos". This guy was in Kawanis, so there have to be bunches of those. But some one would have to get it and scan it and annotate it and stick it on the web and that would be like "work".(And besides, John Bogert and the morons who run the Breeze are still locked in their 1917 revolutionary mind set.)

This guy must be one of McDermott's customers. But judging from his writing, he's gotten a new source. |

Drugdealing scum imagine how many lives this guy help destroy and if he has a good lawyer he might just get probation.

It's a matter of priorities within the police department as to how assignments are made. Ticketing individuals and businesses result in income for a city. Drug busts, for the most part, do not (feds and state get the lion's share). With one of the largest ratio of police/resident forces in the United States, Hermosa is obligated to keep income coming in. Especially since they they now get peanuts on parking tickets, as the profit has been shifted to the subcontractor. It's not very reassuring to have the safety of your community based upon income producing law enforcement priorities. |
