Why should they be getting money, and why is this being covered? So, they can go see a candidate they like?
Please stick to NEWS stories and not a pro-Obama group of youth.

They are just doing what they know already, getting "Aid" from someone else! More of the "Give it to me I am entitled" group. If they want to do a film on politicians.....well, they are in D.C.!

I hate to admit this because I have disagreed with almost ALL your post but I agree with you on this one. What about the celebrities who have much more money then we do that they have interviewed get together and make a tax deductable donation.

All of you are missing the point! These kids are not doing a documentary about politicians or Barack Obama! They are doing it on the conditions of MLK streets and avenues all around the country! It just so happens that MLK street in DENVER is ALSO near the convention center where the DNC is being held!
Dont you all listen! Where did they say anything about doing a documentary on politicians! You all should be ashamed of yourselves. I bet if it was a group of white kids there would not be all of these complaints! It's pathetic how you being adults, could just put kids down like this...just sad. How are you just going to assume that their parents are on welfare?! Multi-millon dollar companies ask for donations every day! That doesnt mean they are broke! What in the world is wrong with you people!?! Its a non-profit organization sponsoring them! They ask the community to help them! If you dont want to, then dont! All this is not nessesary! How do any of you know that they havent tried to contact so called celebrities for money! How do you know they havent had fundraisers of their own! None of you know a thing so stop assuming! YOU ALL ARE PATHETIC!

Thank you, Debbie. These students are being productive and pro-active, still the negative comments flow regardless. Since there wasn't a bunch of murder stories today to comment on, they had to attack a decent story. Just because they are seeking donations, doesn't mean they are welfare recipients. Not everyone has parents that can sponsor a trip like this. Some of the people making comments can't afford it either. Give or choose not to. Either way, grow up.

Hey, I need several cash donations to support a trip to the US Vrigin Islands that I'd like to take. If it helps draw donations, I'll try to make a documentary about all of the bars there that serve rum...although I can't guarantee the camera will always be in focus. I need funding for airfare, lodging, and bar tabs...oh, and a video camera.

Those of you saying positive things about what these kids are doing I did not read one statement from any of you that you will or have donated money to their cause so if you feel that strongly and have told the rest of us to grow up and called us pathetic then put your money where your mouth is!!

None of you conservative idiots understand the difficulties that the youth in D.C. face today. It saddens me that you are quick to assume that these kids parents are on welfare based on a 3 min segment. How dare you say something so idiotic and simple. Every is quick to point fingers at minorities when it comes to welfare but you trailer trash hicks collect it too. Your stupid comment is just a mere reflection of your primal and imbecile mind. It's a broader perspective of what America is now, a country run by idiots. Maybe you should educate yourself before you try to talk. Instead of thinking before you talk you should try to write things down. Maybe then your feeble brain can actually develop a worthwhile thought.

P.S. My parents are not on welfare.

These racist people try to get you off your game so that they can keep you down on yourself. They are feeling really threatened and jealous right now (Obama). They wish there kids could go on a trip to learn something. Keep focused and on track. These a--holes will be washed by the time you get out of college.

Here's my donation for you. Get a job and earn your way here. That's how intelligent and responsible people get what they want. If you can't afford it, then stay home.

With all due respect we are not asking for piggyback rides to Denver and we are not asking for complete funding of our film project. WE are merely asking for some donations from the community so that we may be able to make the trip to Denver. In response to your comment most of the kids in the program have jobs through the D.C. Youth Employment Program so we are responsible. We are also intelligent due to the fact that all 8 of us are here voluntarily. The problem with today's urban youth is that they do not seek better opportunities for themselves. So I believe that we ARE intelligent because we are trying to better ourselves.

"Intelligent and responsible people" seek out grants and scholarships to go to college, so that they in turn are able to support themselves. They are in high school! If you watched the segment and paid attention instead of being a racist idiot you would know they have already been across the country! Is this 1968 or 2008? These kids are doing a documentary about King and it is a shame that they still face the racism today 40 years after his death. Americans and their simple minds! Americans and their color issues. Not one of you can say you paid your way through college without some form of aid. Not one of you can say that you haven't asked a parent for help or had a bake sale for your kids to go on a band trip. You gonna tear down the girl scouts too for selling their cookies each year? I guess if they were shooting folks on MLK Ave it then sit well with you? You are are suppose to set the example.

All we ask is for a simple donation if you decided to give one then thank you, if not then okay. But what’s with all the criticism the youth are always heavily criticizes, and when a youth group such as us try to do something educational and productive we get shot down. People act like we do no work, making a film takes hard work.

These teens are amazing! I am sending my donation. Let go of the negativity. Being bold and having an opinion on a comment page means nothing. Big deal you know how to blast hurtful comments by typing. You all probably got beat up in high school and this is your way of getting back. Pretty sad to attack high school students.
