Hey, does your son have his permit or his license? Mine just got his permit last week, I was wondering if I need to insure him with his permit or do I have to wait until he gets his license....geez, mine just went down again, not I gotta fork out a buttload for this kid! LOL
Trust me, I know! lol
Actually i didn't have to worry about it until he got his license & now he has a car, but I kinda let him fall under the "insurance covers other drivers" theroy, lol. I didn't tell them he was driving, but they said my insurance covered others, lol. Now he's on the plan.

Hello, all! Just got back from an advanced firefighting school. It was pretty cool. Now I get to spend my Saturday on the ship because I have duty today. Ugh. Oh, well. I'll get a three day weekend next week! Whoohoo!

Look into "Operator Only" coverage if he doesn't have any vehicles registered in his name...It provides the same coverage, but without the increase in rates...I did that one when I had to have an SR22, also considered high risk...The car was in my sisters name, and my insurance only cost me $55.00 a month...For most states, the "High Risk" factor remains until the driver turns 25...

Here in CA, your kid has to complete drivers education and be enrolled in drivers training before they'll even issue a permit...Once they're eligible for their licenses, they are severely restricted on hours they can be on the roads, no cell phone use whatsoever (including hands free), and no other minors in the vehicle...Plus there are stipulations as to how much coverage must be provided...
My son is eligible to get his permit, but it will wait until we return to CO next year...He's cool with that, since he knows all to well just how many idiots, and ILLEGALS are on the roads out here...

Unfortunately the Operator only policy can only be issued (at least the companies I sold for) if there is NO car in the household. If there is a car in the household it could cause a non renewal. FYI on that one.

Sorry, better to know now than later. D'oh! but that doesn't mean ALL companies are like that, just the ones I sold for. Mostly because the insurance company doesn't want to pay for damages from another DUI usually the culprit in CO for an Operator Only policy. At least in the agency I worked for.

"In what aisle could I find the Polish sausage?"

The clerk looks at him and says, "Are you Polish?"

The guy (clearly offended) says, "Well,
yes I am. But let me ask you something.

If I had asked for Italian sausage would you
ask me if I was Italian?

Or if I had asked for German bratwurst, would
you ask me if I was German?

Or i f I asked for a kosher hot dog would you
ask me if I was Jewish?

Or if I had asked for a Taco would you ask if I
was Mexican? Would you? Would you?"

The clerk says, "Well, no!"

"If I asked for some Irish whiskey, would
you ask if I was Irish?"

"Well, I probably wouldn't!"

With deep self-righteous indignation, the guy
says, "Well then, why did you ask me if I'm Polish
because I asked for Polish sausage?"

The clerk replies, "Because you're at
Home Depot."

Wow, things have changed out there, Victorville is where I originally got my license...that sounds about how it is here now, minus the having to be enrolled in drivers training, you just need to show the cert that you passed your classroom time, after you get your permit you drive with an instructor for 6 hours. Before you can get your license you have to have 60 hours of drive time with a licensed driver, 10 of those being night time driving....
