In Eritrea, youth say frustrated by long service

By Jack Kimball

ASMARA (Reuters) - God surveys the world one day, seeing the mountains, valleys, seas and all there is.

Suddenly God stops and exclaims: "Why is Eritrea so green? I specifically made that country dry and yellow!"

The angel Gabriel leans over and whispers: "My Lord, those are army uniforms."

So goes a joke about mandatory national service in Eritrea, a Red Sea state that keeps an estimated 1 in 15 people in the army often for years beyond the obligatory 12 to 18 months.

The United States and the world neglect Eritrea, the issue of human rights seems not to apply to the people of this small African country. One man rules it, with no law or regulations. People are so much opressed, being on the edge of survival, they do not dare to protest. Only pressure by the UN and leading world powers can change the situation and relieve the Eritrean people of suffering.

If you have never been there and seen for yourself how people live then you have no right to speak about Eritrea...

We, the people of Eritrea who are in Eritrea (and outside), decide what is best for us not the freaking US, UN, EU or AU. And certainly not Wayane and its stooges who are in Russia or in Cali. Get a life and live your life, not ours. We will succeed on our own, you on the other hand will be on the sides left to beg as it is in your nature.

No one will blame you. Shabia is in control anyway it is a matter of time no issASS or for that matter shabia. Eritrea will be as one of the state like Tigrai, amhara or Oromia state under the rule of the heroic EPRDF. Bye bye shabia and puppets.

Youth in Eritrea have been suffering for a long time this days. But I guess the reasons for our youth fleeing out of the country is getting wider and wider.I hope that the easiest way of solving these problems is in the hands of the GOV.....

Even if Eritrea is a small province it has lost many soldiers during the war and long time in service, has caused moral break down to growing mental of the youth.Youth that should be working, and experiencing a lot of knowledge in the out side world not wasting their time in long term commitment(unfinished)military service.

Anseba, Jack Kimbal is a western scum who has no brain of his own. Him and George Bush share the same brain cells I think. He is just a white trash that a 6 grade student in Eritrea can analayze the world better than he does.

Did you say is there school in Eritrea? Poor Agame! Send some help to your starving little boys in Tigray and south ethip being attacked by what the west calls now as "Green Famine"

Perhaps a good idea to join your ethio brothers and sisters and offer some help. Please stay away from eritrean issues, leave that to eritreans and focus on issues that concerns your home town such as this one below.
