Letter to the editor: Obama represents new kind of leader

As an enthusiastic supporter of Sen. Barack Obama, I rejoice in his historic selection as the presumed Democratic presidential nominee.

The problem is that out of 300 million people the two best we could come up with are a ultra liberal and a quasi liberal who trys to call himself a conservative. Neither is a new kind of leader they are simply stock American politicians with all the baggage that implies. The question is how far to the left do want to see the country go.

Sound principles?......the same old liberal ideas from years ago...punish and tax the "rich, raise taxes and kill the economy at every opportunity, redistribute our income from those that earn it to those who are "entitled" to it. Peace through weakness instead of strength. That's not change, that's the proven insanity that is killing our country. But I do respect your right, to an opinion, and to vote for your choice.

Bill, I agree Hillary Rotten would not be a sound VP choice for Obama. That would necessitate having the loose cannon, Bill Clinton, in the mix.
Obama's leadership abilities are not existant, Bill. His limited experience and record as a U.S. Senator do not show any remarkable skills. So far he has uttered statements about what he'd do in regard to foreign policy that show he is not prepared to be POTUS. Again I agree that John McCain is a Liberal RINO. Where does that leave the average voter in Franklin County, PA in November? It leaves them to make the "least WORST choice" if they vote at all.

Obama represents a fromer leader of the US - Peanut Carter

He is for the same failed principals that put the US thru one of the worst economic rimes in her history

I know - I lived thriugh those 4 years

Obama will appease and roll over for terrorists, we will raise any tax he he can, all wage earners will pay more in taxes, he will launch an assualt on US corporations, he will appoint liberal judges who will make up law from the bench, and he will try to have the government take over the US healthcare industry

Anyone who dares to question his polices or his racist Amercia hating friends will be tagged a racist by his supporters and the liberal media

To Obama supporters the "messiah" can do no wrong

What millions of Americans are sick of, really tired of, and frustrated with, is the corruption in Washington. There are now 35,000 register lobbyists, Bill, courting members of Congress to get legislation enacted that's favorable to their special interest. As McCain correctly says on the stump, there are members of Congress who were convicted and are jailed for their corruption. You may believe Obama's promises that he will change the influence of lobbyists, stop earmarks, and end the corruption, and he gets an "A" for his intent, however, he won't be able to do it.
Neither will John McCain.

Look at the people Obama calls a friend. Racist pastors, terrorists who blew up US government buildings, and convicted felons

Dems have been attacking the home mortgage industry - yet many Dems and some of Ovbama's people got special rates from Country Wide. As usual, Dems have 2 sets of rules - one for them and one for the rest of us

What is treaaly funny is watching the liberal media "report" the story

Over at ABC, the "D" at the end of the names is silent. Nowhere does ABC tell you these people are Democrats

Our present supposedly conservative administration has stooped to borrowing money from of all places, China, so that we don't have to pay for the War in Iraq. Our children and grand children will need to pay with interest on this debt.Financially this country is bankrupt because we elect officials that promise to keep taxes low. Our country needs to grow up and either cut the spending or pay the bill.

Sadly, Bill, it appears you are smitten with Obama's looks and the excellent speechmaking that you've seen on TV. Millions of Americans, like you, believe Obama would have executive powers way beyond what's in the U.S. Constitution. In 2008, due to the poor American public education system, there are many who have little or no knowledge about what the Constitution says about the Executive Branch. Obama, would have to deal with the U.S. Congress. For instance, do you seriously believe that a Democrat like Jack Murtha will stop inserting earmarks into legislation? Sorry, Bill, Obama is not a new kind of leader. He's a garden variety Liberal politican who puts his trousers on one leg at a time. Have you considered the types of people he would bring to his administration--to the cabinet and key government posts?

Dems promised to cut spending in 2006. Of course they also promised to lower gas prices

Obama not only wants tax increases of over $2 trillion, he has also orimised over $1 trillion in new spending

Is that the "change" he is talking about?

That is quite an absolute statement. Please provide a link or source that would provide evidence of Obamas intentions.

Patty, your post is childish.
Can't you elevate your comments to a higher level of thought about the topic? If you favor Obama, why not do what he advocates and keep it civil?
The comparison to Jimmy Carter is appropo. Both men are Leftist Liberals.

Obama wants to do the same things Peanut Carter did

Raise taxes during a slow economy

Increase government handouts

Apprease terrorists

Pass a "windfall" profit tax on oil companies

Need more examples?

You must mean McCain, dont you tweddle?
He has racist John Hagee, and he is friends with the Bush administration that attacked the Pentagon as well as non government buildings - WTC 1, WTC 2, and WTC 7. As for the convicted felons there is Scooter Libby and Jack Abramoff.

Where have you been for the past year? Obama's intentions were well articulated during the debates and campaign rallies. Thousands of column inches about Obama and what he says he will do as President have been printed in news magazines and newspapers. The World Wide Web has a great amount of information about Obama and his stances on issues. Where have you been? No one should waste their time posting "evidence" to convince you of Obama's positions. Read! Put forth some effort, Patty.

And I respect your right to your opinion, but "kill the economy?" Are you kidding me? We didn't have a multi-trillion dollar debt the last time there was a democrat in office. Gas wasn't $4 a gallon either. The housing market wasn't in the tank. Do you want me to continue?

I agree with Patty. If someone makes a claim about something, they'd better be prepared to back it up. The person opposing their viewpoint isn't the one who should be doing the work here.

Is Patty playing dumb, or is he/she really dumb?

Patty never tries to have a civil discussion - just attack and smear anyone who has a different POV

Read what Obama wants to do. They are a copy of the failed polices Pres Peanut gave us in the late 70's

I lived through those long 4 years. Did you?
