A lame attempt to attract Hillary supporters. McCain only met her once. Does he really want someone he hardly knows a heartbeat away from the presidency? The choice was obviously made only because of her gender. How ignorant does McCain think the voters are? Does he really think Hillary supporters only liked her because she was a woman?
In actuality, McCain met her briefly on 2 occasions and doubtfully was on his radar as recent as a week ago.
This move was predicated on what Hillary Clinton's status was and with his widely known dislike for a man knowledgeable in economics (Romney) it wasn't high on his agenda even though the economy is the No. 1 issue on the table.
McCain's best hope is that his health / age would permit him to survive even one term otherwise the leader of the free world could be in the hands of someome from the backwoods of Alaska with no idea where to turn or who to turn to with her little knowledge of who's who in Washington and the contiguous 48 states. She's an Alaskan lady and not much else.

We couldn't imagine Al "the sky is falling" Gore or John f-----g Kerry leading us anywhere but down the path of big government and socialized everything.
If Sarah Palin can kill government waste like she killed Steven's "bridge to nowhere" then I'm in!
UMM according to all the records pre yesterdays Speech ...She was FOR the bridge to nowhere and FOR getting it done with EARMARKS!
PSST just because she says it doesn't make it sooo!
It seems she can lie right up there with BUSH/
MCCAIn/CHENEY/ROVE

And don't forget her being investigated for Misuse of POWER!

John McCain, 26 years in Congress. Sarah Palin, a year and half as governor of our most remote state, with one of the smallest populations. ZERO foreign policy experience. Total experience, 27.5.

Barack Obama, 8 years State Senator from Chicago, the nation's third largest city. 4 years US Senator from Illinois, population 12.8 million. Joe Biden, US Senator from Delaware, first elected 1972, chairman, Senator Foreign Relations Committee, former chair, Senate Judiciary Committee, 36 years experience. Total experience 48 years, including vital foreign policy experience.

If experience is so important, why didn't McCain pick someone more experienced to be a heartbeat away from being President??? I think this reflects poorly on his judgment.

Obama-Biden 2008 - Change, judgment AND experience you can believe in.

She will know where to turn..The good ole boy network that doesn't want to give up it's hold on Washington.
They are praying Mccain kicks the bucket.Once again they will run the show.

Excellent pick by McCain! I have to laugh when I read comments about her lack of experience - she has more than Obama and about her being an unknown - how about Carter and Clinton when they first apperaed on the scene? Yes, I think this intellengent selection will bring in some women votes and bring back some conservative votes. Congratulations Senator McCain!

Hurrah for John McCain. You cannot solve problems which are indemic to Washington with the same level of thinking that got us here. Unlike Nancy Pilosi Sarah will not spend her days in Washington at the Spa, she'll be too busy shaking up the Senate.

The governor's speech on Friday gave me an indication of her tenacity that has enabled her to make such a meteoric rise in Alaskan and now, national politics. The Obama minions that come out of the woodwork to criticize what they really don't know about are laughable. She could be another Tom Eagleton or not, we shall see.

Something that hasn’t really been brought up. Of course her gender was the contributing factor to her being picked. Could it be anymore obvious?!? she straight-out mention ferraro and clinton in her speech and said she was picked to break-thru the glass ceiling. There were Pawlenty of people who should have been considered but we’re ruled out based solely on their gender.

it is not about her …it is about the fact MCCain is pandering to the female voters thinking this will win him the election. SHE IS NOT QUALIFIED. PERIOD.

The VP needs to be able to step in and LEAD in the event the President can not!!!! She has no law degree, she has no foreign policy experience, she was hoisted to Gov. only because of corruption in the former administration in Alaska. She put into law a ethic bill AND NOW IS BEING INVESTIGATED FOR CORRUPTION HERSELF

McCain’s choice of Gov. Palin reeks of hypocrisy and desperation to lock in still bitter Clinton supporters. Since the McCain campaign is so set on arguing that experience is based on the number of years one has served rather than accomplishments I find it laughable that he would choose Gov. Palin as a running mate.

Please tell me how a journalism degree from University of Idaho (LOL), former runner up in a beauty contest, 2 years as said hick town backwoods Alaskan (can we say northern exposure) city council (with a booming population of 5500) member turned mayor, turned governor, with a whole 20 months under her belt that lacks any foreign policy credentials, has no knowledge of any of the 20 plus MAJOR issues/problems facing the United States today, lacks any common sense (THE FLYING SPAGHETTI MONSTER THINKS PASTAFARIANISM should be taught in schools too!) or concept of the CONSTITUTION, has no clue what a Vice President does, could possibly think or be thought to be ready to be president.

A Republican, though Libertarian at heart, I have not voted since 1999.
I loved Bush Sr., as he gave us a set agenda in Kuwait, but have no respect at all for the Son, who I believe lied to everyone with the WMD scam, while still having a hand in Killing Hussein using the UN.The Lies and the audacity to do what ever they want because they can, really set me off as to never Vote again! I would never Vote MORE communist(Democrat), But I really figured there would be no reason to ever vote Republican again!
I have a way of determining good things in people at first sight, and sometimes after I speak with them.
While I have not yet spoken to Sarah Palin, I have a very good feeling about her as the Vice President!
I don't know why I have these feelings for people, but I do! When I read today a bit more about her, everything just supported my feelings!
I hate the idea that people everywhere will see her as the 1st Woman in this role, when what is more important, is what she has to offer! When we stop filling our minds with race and gender, we will see people for what really matters. I can see that Sarah Palin is a woman, and I don't need a big fanfare to let my daughters see what a woman can do. What I need my daughters to see, is what hard work, good will and honesty will bring them!
Sarah Palin on the ticket gives me a good feeling. I can't explain it, but I am really eager to vote this year!
We do most everything by feeling. We go or do not go down a crowded avenue because of feelings, we use this gas station or that gas station because of feelings. Of all the things that could have changed my feelings to vote again, I get something from Sarah Palin! She makes me want to believe!
I will now Vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin. I thought I would never vote again!!!

Excellent choice. She has more executive experience than Obama/Biden combined. For all those critical of her so called "lack of expierience" listen to what she has to say and look at what she has already accomplished. Her speech yesterday and interviews I' ve heard are full of substance, no fluff, no platituds, no SOCIALISM. I am a first time voter, and she is what we need. She will be The President one day too.

Great choice. Palin has not been tainted by years in Washington. Shame on those with the big city mindset that you must be a well groomed politician from an Ivy League school with a large trust fund to be a qualified candidate. She will break through so many political barriers. I have been energized by her already.

I've had it with the Republicans the Old fool is ridiculous is smells of desperation, it has nothing to do with her ability or experience. It’s so obviously he's desperate, does Hillary’s dismayed supporter's mean so much to him b/c he doesn't have the confidence in his own ability? Yes that's exactly what it means. He's scare, and frankly after the last 8 years of bad decisions, if you can't see that, then I feel sorry for you. But McCain was a lackluster student who finished fifth from the bottom of a class of 800. He was a carouser, womanizer, adulterer, left his crippled first wife, divorced her in April and married Cindy in June of the same year. C'mon folks. Sure he really supports women's issues, NOT. OH and where was Cindy during this announcement? MIA..He has flip-flopped on nearly every single issue that has come up in the primaries and now, and the press continues to give him a 'hall pass' as if he's some sort of Demi-God.. Regardless of what he says, all he represents is four more years of GW Bush, assuming he can remember what he said about that. His age is a REAL reality and to take this decision of a VP pick, that lightly is very irresponsible, just to win votes. He doesn't even know her the committee picked her by telephone interview. HOW WISE of a decision WAS THAT? He doesn't know this woman, met her twice, yet he chose her. That's crazy!

McCain has bet the farm (one of them anyway) on the stupidity of the American woman. He's betting that a woman, any woman, will do. He's betting that no one will notice or care that he has just contradicted everything his campaign has said about the importance of experience. He's betting that Palin's beauty-pageant looks will distract us all from her positions on the issues.

Of course it would not have occurred to McCain that underestimating people's intelligence is not a good way to win their votes. He obviously didn't think it was possible to underestimate our intelligence.

McCains pick for VP is an insult to the American people . Not take this important position seriously is so disrespectful and frightening, he is 72 and a cancer survivor ,she has ZERO experience and claims no interest in in learning any. This country is in trouble on every front, but it is apparent he does not think so. This is serious any woman that falls for this is living up to the stero-types of women not being able to make wise decisions. Oh an for that glass ceiling she claims to be breaking, will somebody please tell the beauty contestant that she will be lorded over by a man, so her glass ceiling isn’t even cracked.

I say one thing about the lady McCain selected as his VP choice and that is, she is a looker. But, it takes more than looks to get votes and to occupy the Office of VP or President. Obama all the way. I am going to get his four million votes myself and I have other friends who will do the same.

I'm so tired of hearing that "Pahlin has ONLY been in office for two years....blah, blah, blah," HOW LONG HAS "SENATOR" OBAMA been in office? Three years, I think I read somewhere? How long has Obama been in DC WORKING for the last 1-1/2 year?((length of time of this campaign trail)) You can't be in two places at one time...I don't believe he's anymore experienced than Palin. He has a very good speech writer who makes him "sound wonderful". Look at the big picture. Look beyond yourselves & the "me" syndrome & look at things down the road.
What did our Founding Fathers have in mind when this country first started? America needs to wake up, instead of "God Bless America". How about "America bless God & maybe He'll return the favor!" I'm a republican. I like the idea of Pahlin, but I'm still wanting to write in "Ron Paul". I might like Gov Pahlin, but I"m not sold on McCain... I'm on the fence with this one. But I have a sick feeling that Obama will win. That will be a sad, sad, sad day in America.

A mother with 5 children, 1 only a few month old should never have been picked to run for VP. Either our country will suffer if she wins or her children. Shame on John Mccain and shame on her for accepting.

It really doesn't matter who McCain picked, Demo's/Lib's would try to cut him/her to pieces. This woman is an excellent choice, not the main stream career politician and with fresh new ideas and a strong heart, meaning she has the guts to stand up to the old guard. Obama, nothing but hot air like most politicians, well he is a good bullshitter, I'll give him that, but Slick Willie was too and niether one of them ever lied while looking at you straight in the eyes. wink/wink, :-)
