2008 Guide By God's Spirit Convention - Raleigh, NC

The first talk on the program was by a Circuit Overseer named Comer. I have met him once and my impression of him was that he is quite a nice guy. He was the kind of CO I grew up admiring and wanted to imitate. He's in his early 70s and is retiring from the circuit work this year. He is one of the special brand of men that serve and so unlike today's youthful immoderate and brash type.

What I found interesting about his talk is that he barely used the name Jehovah at all. He kept referencing "GOD". Which I personally thought was fantastic! He used "God" much in the same way the Christian Bible writers did like Paul, Peter and James. I wondered at one point had I mistakingly stumbled into Baptist convention! In fact, the following talks were done the same way.

What a fascinating phenomenon! Why were they doing this? Is it deliberate? Or a fluke?

One thing I have learned about the Watchtower, is that nothing is done without a reason. Anyone venture to guess why?

Hi, CIA: Good talking with you on the phone this past week. I am planning on making the program on Sunday / tomorrow. Please do me a small favor. I had heard that perhaps my old friend and circuit overseer here in NC, Steve Lett who is now on the governing body, may be at the Raleigh assemblies. I would like to see if we could discuss reform of the WT. You and I could help them if they would let us. Steve's reasonable and should give us the chance to be heard, but if he is not here maybe I can give me a call again in NY soon to catch up and visit. I have not been on the program at a JW convention since the 1980's, but I spoke at the Witnesses Now For Jesus convention in PA in 1995 and last fall in 2007. Remind me to loan you my tapes of some of the JW talks I gave, as well as the ones I gave in PA. They want me again this fall, but due to all our challenges because of my wife's health, I may have to wait until next year.

What you shared is interesting. Perhaps it has to do with protecting their image and assets. We'll see. The 3 main areas where reform is sought have to do with shunning, blood, and organizational idolatry. In the meantime, they also need to be aware of 'so-called' JW's who shame the WT here.

We'll try and meet on Sunday, and I look forward to having lunch with you again one day this week.

Stephen Lett is one of the best speakers I have ever seen in my life.

I saw him at a Special Day Assembly, and on the third day of a District Convention.

Excellent Speaker.

Do you think your friend is dishonest or powerhungry like so many present the men of the GB are?

There is something seriously wrong with this picture.

This guy is a master of deception.

I hope his conscience works over time as he knows Jehovah is watching his evil doings.

He is going through alot in his life right now and this should be considered when evaluating his behavior.

Give them a break. What he did was wrong NR, but in the end you know and I know it didnt really affect you in any way.

He has alot on his mind, alot of pressure, is going through the fight of his life with his wife. Please consider this when evaluating his actions.

Please consider what BA is going through too when posting to her.

Empathy is hard when we are all nothing more than black letters across a screen. It is difficult to remember that behind those letters is a person with feelings, with a personal life, with different moods and circumstances, and sometimes those things color our comments and actions on here.

I agree with this, it is different behind the black letters.....,

but I find empathy hard when someone calls my KH and then comes here to tell lies about what was said.

I know what was said.

It is both devious and coneiving behavior, that even on my worst days, could not imagine doing these things to others.

I did not lower to this level even after a murder in my family.

We all go through pressing times in life...,but some of these people have gone over the top.

So much so that lawsuits can happen. Anyone can be found, even these people under anonymity, who think they are safe behind their computer. They will know how safe they are when the police come knocking on their door.

yes Topsy i agree one hundred percent. and Born Again? well your friend says she is lying about having had a major heart attack. emergency open heart quadruple bypass and now will be having a pacemaker implanted at the end of this month. we off bard know more about born again and are praying so hard for her. that said. your friend has no feelings of empathy for anyone.

when she asked me to accept her apology i did and she said something about how her daughter was suffering and how her son had not completed something with his dad i offered her to get them to speak with someone so they could move on. I was not being mean.. and look what happens when i try to be decent with her. no more. she does not want it she does not care she has no feelings towards humans and she is just plain mean.

and now she is following me board to board saying lies about my sister in law and I. so why don't you stop her... you tell everyone else to stop others why don't you stop her?

I also have heard Steve Lett speak. He is a great speaker, humble and spiritual. He wouldn't stoop that low to talk to apostates.

I know an elder who talks to Steve and I'll let him know that 2 evil apostates, from Raleigh, NC, are wanting to talk to him about changing the shunning and blood policy, ones name is Tim.

Then all that needs to be said is -'By the way, Steve, an elder in WVA might have told you about 2 so-called 'evil apostates' from NC; if so, just be aware the sister who told him about that hangs out on a discussion board herself with apostates, and therefore the elder who told you this needs to go back and counsel that sister ro correct her course.'

If the elder cares about truth, he would ask her how she knows this. It would then be up to her to tell the truth, that it comes from her being on a board with apostates herself, or to lie and say the elder told her that it is OK to be here. Why would someone want to hang herself like that?

I'd even print out some of your posts to prove that you were lying to him about really caring about your brothers and sisters, showing that you are on the board ridiculing, harassing, etc. also talking very bad about him and his brothers at Bethel...no wait...we aren't your brothers and sisters and neither is he.

If it's any help, topix say that no threads ever get deleted, they just get inlinked from the forum. So ALL information would be retrievable through the legal process of 'discovery'.

Hello, again, CIA: I hope to see you on the upper level concourse Sunday / tomorrow. We might need to be careful as JWF may have some of the 'goon squad' looking for us, but that's doubtful as she would risk exposing herself, and follows someone lacking truth, like a defective detective.

I plan to leave some flyers, cards, and other materials around the building as much as possible for it's much more effective than carrying around signs saying '(WT) religion is a snare & racket'.
