Obama smart to reject public campaign money

As one of the contributors of small amounts to Barack Obama , I applaud his decision to reject public funding for his campaign.

I wonder if Mr. Gordon even realizes that it was the Democrats who lead the effort to pass campaign finance "reform" leading to the McCain/Feingold Act. Obama can whine all he wants about "it's not working" but that will not change the record on which Party clamored to have it exactly the way it is today, in the face of those who predicted exactly what would happen.

Of course, Mr. Obama was all for the current system until he realized he could raise enormous sums of money, much more than his opponent. Then reality set in, and presto, the current system is "broken".

Then he must reject the tree-huggers and caribou-coddlers and prove to the world that he will do something to bring the cost of gas down.
