I guess you've never noticed that purple is a very popular color with women of color. It is simply her cultural choice. Why do you want to read something else into the color choice from centuries past?
Culture choice...you've got to be kidding me! As a white woman, if I put on a purple dress I'd look washed-out. She's wearing purple because the color looks good on her! What do you want the woman to wear, a burlap sack? Then you'll crab she has no style!

Obama's wife is just a decoration for him. The real issues have been carefully hidden. Will excessive pricing be slowed, for everything? Will taxes rise uncontrollably? When will all gun confiscation begin? That is one Democratic wish, though they say that they are for the working man. The old class system shall return with a vengeance.

The Republicans should be going after Barack Obama and not his wife Michelle. Although she has made some misstatements (who hasn't in this campaign) she is not running for President. Barack Obama, however, who is running for President has some baggage. He is inexperienced, naive on foreign affairs, and has close ties to the corrupt Cook County Democratic Machine, and the convicted crook Tony Rezko. And the whole Jeremiah Wright relationship and Obama's explanation is very troubling to a lot of people out here. Let's stick to the issues and not personal attacks. I hope both the McCain and Obama camps will debate the issues. But I am very afraid both sides will be throwing mud at each other before this campaign is over.

Mrk - your stupidity makes me laugh. However, it is unfortunate that some of you folks still try to purpetuate this kind of crap.

She should do what Laura Bush did and remain humble. Once America understand how bossy she is towards Obama, they will see another Hillary in the making , which will not be good for Barrak.

Again. If it exists, I want to see it too.
Apparently they need until October to manufacture a fake one of believable quality.

Id vote for someone disgusted with america. Thats what we need, someone ticked off at the status que thats gotten us nowhere but maybe a couple of years behind.

Also, what are republicans so afraid of? If their platform is so strong, why havent I heard more about it? Why is it all I hear from the republicans is critisism of the democratic party and not a whole lot of what they plan to do to make this country better? Slamming the other party just makes you look weak without anything to stand upon. Id rather hear both sides stand proud of what they believe in than a bunch of mudslinging. Precicely why Oberwise didnt get my vote, and why McCain lost my vote a month and a half ago.

There we go, a great example of what the republicans are basing their campaign on; name calling and perpetuating some myth that Obama is a terrorist because of his name. Wow. Really strong arguement.*rolleyes* I forgot we are in grade school.

This is what we are? And you wonder why people are disgusted with America?

We are electing a President, not a 1st Lady. Keep your eye on the ball people! Laura Bush has been a model 1st Lady, but that hasn't helped George. The 1st Lady is not relevant to the election, they have no authority. Hillary tried to have power as a 1st lady and do her pet project (health care). She got hammered.

I disagree. The republicans should be running on their own merits, not resorting to slamming Obama. If they truely beliebe they are a better party than show that through your campaign of your own merit.

They have lost a lot of the moderate vote through this sort of thing.

Given the miserable failure of Bush and the Republicans, McCain's only hope is to attack Obama and hope that racism gets voters to give George W. McCain/Bush a third term.

But sadly, Obama gave McCain openings, with his idiot Reverend, his wife's stupid mouth. A white Democrat would win a landslide - will Obama? Stay tuned.

So the best the Republicans can do is go after someone's wife. I'm not proud of this country either, and I'm not a woman nor a black. Who can be proud of a country that's run by a bunch of greedy old poops, who just use others in order to stay in power? What a bunch of sleazebags, with no real program of their own. They have nothing to offer Americans who are in financial crisis, so they go after the little wifey. What cowards they are. And what cowards people are if they listen to them.

I agree with you, unfortunately I agree that if Obama were white a lot of the controversy would be...different. There would still be controversy but of a different nature and it wouldnt elicit as strong a reaction.

I just wish we could get away from extreme left/extreme right politics (even though McCain isnt really extreme right) and get to a more moderate level. Im sure there more people in America that agrees with both sides some of the time and disagrees with both sides on other issues too.

Imagine what we could accomplish as a country if we all worked together on issues rather than letting our right or left wing "obligations" get in our way.

I have no problem with higher standards, either. Neocons are very hypocritical when they talk about "liberals lowering the bar", when they are the ones who've knocked the bar into the mud.

Why go after a wife of a candidate you ask? Did you happen to notice who Democratic runner-up nominee was last week?

Heaven help us, but in Oblah-bla-bla-ma gets in, who knows what kind of influence, appointment or further down the road what aspirations she may have.

Go ahead, go after Cindy, see what you might find.

She's fair game, just like any other public figure. Everything is out in the open and repeated again, and again on video. She should take Father Phleger's example and keep things low-key.
