Six of History's More Unusual Surgical Miracles

In October 1978, Bob Spritzle of Akron Ohio had surgeons sew his right big toe onto his face to replace his nose , lost in a "sideswiping" car accident.

In December 1988, Spritzle lost both ears to frostbite when he fell asleep in a corn field after eating two dozen tranquizers he thought were "Flintstones Vitamans". Surgeons sewed pieces of Spritzles scrotum and cartlidge into a pair of false ears.

Last year, Spritzel, now 78 years old, had both eyebrows burnt off permanantly in a zippo lighter accident while flying his ultra light plane. Doctors transplanted some of Spritzels underarm hair onto his brow .
